Interests
Our lab is diversified into different fields. Current projects focus on..........
Photophysics of small molecules
We are interested in understanding the non-trivial photophysics of small molecules that can be used as single benzene-based emitters. This type of molecules can be effective in bio-imaging. Our first endeavour with 5-tBHI proved to be visionary in such an application. We have understood the complex dynamics of this small substituted phenol and pointed out their possible derivatization. The query is still on.
Derivetization of locked GFP chromophores for their multiple utility
We are very much interested in producing a gamut of derivatized locked GFP-chromophores and check their utility in bio-imaging, RNA aptamer imaging as well as in non-linear optics. We are the first to report on the two-photon absorbing ability of compounds of this class and successfully correlate the electronic effect with the efficiency of the TPA.
Molecular Docking and Molecular Dynamics Simulation
We are working on to different proteins and/or mutated proteins, responsible for different types of cancer, and trying to find the possible remedies theoretically by using different plant-extracted drugs. We use the molecular docking method for screening the best ligand for a definite type of cancer-causing protein and then MD simulation studies are performed using that ligand and the protein.
Eco-friendly polymer composite
We are trying to prepare an eco-friendly, vegan polymer composite to synthesize house hold and daily usage item.
CO2 Sequestration
We have recently started work in CO2-capturing from flue gas and its utilization.
